USGA Rules shall govern all play except as modified by local rules.
Relief: drop the ball within one club length of the nearest point which avoids interference with stance and area of intended swing no nearer the hole. USGA Rule 24. No Penalty Note: an obstruction interfering on the line of play after a free drop is not interference and no further relief is provided.
Out of bounds: white “O.B.” stakes: right of 1 and the keeper yard between 11 & 12. All other fences surrounding the golf course: right of 1, 3, rear of 12 and left of 10, 11, 13, 14. Penalty stroke and distance.
Water hazards: marked by yellow stakes, holes 1 & 9. Player may
- (A) play the ball as it lies or
- (B) drop behind the hazard with no limit on distance keeping the spot where the ball last crossed the margin of the hazard between player and the hole or
- (C) play the ball as near as possible to the spot from which the original ball was played.
USGA Rule 26. Penalty is 1 stroke. The stakes defining the hazard are in the hazard.
Lateral Water Hazards: marked by red stakes, holes 3, 8, 9, 11, 15, 16. When playing the 9th fairway, lakes on 1 & 8 are played as lateral water hazards. Same procedure as water hazards (A), (B), or (C); or drop ball outside the water hazard within two club lengths of (D) the point of where the ball last crossed the margin of the hazard of (E) the point on the opposite margin of the hazard equidistant from the hole. USGA Rule 26-1C. Penalty is 1 stroke.
Ground Under Repair: includes areas marked by the greens keeper; material piled for removal and holes made by the greens keeper or construction crews; any animal damage; the planted areas between 11th green and 12th tee box, between 14th green and 15th tee box, and between 16th green and 17th tee box. If a player’s ball lies in the area, or if it interferes with the player’s stance or the area of her intended swing, the player must take relief under Rules 25-1. Relief: drop the ball within one club length of the nearest point of relief no closer to the hole. No penalty.
